“Ded, I can’t do this,” she said.
“Yes you can,” he said, “Stop wiggling around, and just bend your knees. Now lift your arms and put it up,” she let out a sigh as she threw the ball through the air. It didn’t quite reach the net and he ran after it. He took up the ball and walked over to her.
She had to admit he looked cute in his dark blue shorts and muscle shirt. He had his hair pulled back into a ponytail at the base of his head and there was a light layer of sweat on his skin from the midday sun. He gave her a soft smile as he walked behind her and then back around to face her.
“I told you I can’t do this,” she said.
“You’re getting better,” he smiled bouncing the ball off the court.
“I didn’t even come close to the rim,” she said placing her hands on her hips, “How is that better?”
“Because twenty minutes ago you couldn’t get it half way to the basket without doing a Granny throw,” he smiled, “Come on try again,” he tossed her the ball.
“Ded give a girl a break,” she smiled.
“Come on,” he said.
“And do I get a reward if I actually make it in?” she smiled.
“Well see,” he said wiggling his eye brows at her, “Come on, put it up,”
She bounced the ball off the court and once again tossed it through the air. It bounced off the rim this time as he once again went after it and brought it back to her.
“See,” he smiled, “I said you were getting better,” he tossed her the ball, “Come on, this time you’ll sink it,”
“Ded,” she smiled, “You’re not helping,”
“Come on baby, nothing but net,” he smiled.
“Geez,” she said dribbling the ball, “Are you always like this?”
“You can do it,” he smiled, “Come on,”
She tossed the ball through the air and he followed it with his eyes. It bounced on the rim this time and slowly rolled around it. Lacy covered her eyes, peaking through her fingers waiting for it to fall the wrong way. However the ball finally teetered and fell through the net of the hoop.
“Hey,” he said, “There you go,”
“Fuck me,” she said watching the ball bounce away. He ran after the ball and brought it back to her.
“Maybe later,” he smiled and she blushed instantly, “I’m kidding,” he said catching her gaze, “Told you you’d make it,” he said, “Want to try again,”
“What the hell,” she said taking the ball from him. He walked behind her this time and placed his hands on her hips.
“Just relax, remember what I told you, and follow through,” he said softly, “You can do it,” he let her go and she took a deep breath before taking another shot. This time the ball went through, “Nothing but net,” he smiled.
“Oh God, I did it,” she smiled turning to him.
“You sure did,” he said drawing her close, “That’s my girl,”
“Well I have an excellent couch,” she smiled slipping her arms around his waist, “So what’s my reward?”
“I’ll have to think about that,” he said, “But I can give you a little preview,” he smiled leaning down to kiss her. He gave her a brief kiss, “I better get my ball,” he smiled.
He released her and went after his basketball. As he did she saw three guys walk up to him. Oded shook hands with the guys as they stood there and she watched them talk. She decided to go over to the bench and help herself to some water. She fished a bottle out of his bag as he continued to talk. She made a face as she sipped it. Lukewarm, should have grabbed the cooler from the trunk. He soon came over to her and stuffed his ball in his bag.
“I’m going to play with these guys,” he said as he stripped his muscle shirt off.
“Oh, all right,” she said. She barely got the words out before he was on the court.
She sat there sipping her water as she watched him. Although she didn’t mind watching him play basketball, especially since he was now shirtless, she wished he hadn’t been so abrupt. Something about the way he did it that rubbed her the wrong way. He just did it, didn’t ask if she minded. He seemed to be enjoying himself but she was now sweating in the hot sun. She felt overheated and tired. She soon moved from the bench and wandered off to find some shade.
He was so involved in the game he hadn’t even seen her leave. He and his partner won and he shook hands with the guys, thanking them for the game. It was then he noticed that Lacy was gone from the bench and his head snapped around looking for her.
“Oh shit,” he hissed as he walked over and grabbed up his shirt.
He slipped it back on and shoved his stuff in his bag zipping it shut. He knew she was still a bit touchy; she had been since that disastrous night the week before. He picked up his bag and headed to the car hoping she was there. She wasn’t and he cursed again as he threw his bag in the trunk and slammed it shut. He put his hands on his waist and looked around.
“Where is she?” he asked himself, “Damn it,” he thought for a minute, “The brook,” he said. He took off on a jog in the direction of their favorite picnic spot and as he came over the bridge he saw her leaning back against the tree in the shade. He slowed as he approached her and saw her brush her cheek, “Shit,” he said softly.
He stood there and looked at her for a moment. She was still beating herself up over what happened and it wasn’t her fault, not really. She came over to stay with him one night and they were fooling around in his bed once more, but for the first time the results were less then pleasant. Something in Lacy had prevented her from finding her release and she was very upset by it. No matter what he did he couldn’t bring her to orgasm and she finally leapt from his bed locking herself in his bathroom for an hour while he pleaded with her to come out.
She tried to leave but he wouldn’t let her. He had wanted to comfort her but she wouldn’t let him touch her. He spent the night lying in the bed next to her listening to her cry softly unable to comfort her the way he wanted too. She hadn’t let him touch her intimately in a week and it was driving him crazy. Things became strained between them and he thought things were starting to get back to normal, now he had gone and stepped on her feelings. He approached her quietly.
“Hey,” he said walking closer.
“Hey,” she said not looking at him, “How long did it take for you to realize I was gone?”
“Lacy, I’m sorry,” he said, “I didn’t mean to blow you off like that,”
“Did you win?” she asked pulling up a piece of grass.
“Do you really care?” he asked kneeling next to her.
“Do you?” she asked still not looking at him.
“What the hell is that suppose to mean?”
“Listen I’m really not in the mood to fight with you,” she said standing up and brushing off her legs. He did as well. She swayed suddenly and he quickly grabbed her steadying her against him, “Ded,” she gasped. He cupped her face feeling her skin was hot.
“God Lacy,” he said, “Baby you’re burning up,”
“Ded, I don’t feel so good,” she said softly. He held her up as her eyes rolled back.
“Lacy sweetie?” he said.
“I…I can’t…” her breath was labored.
“Easy baby,” he said lifting her into his arms, “Let’s get you out of the heat,” He carried her to the car and got her settled into the front seat. He opened the trunk and pulled out a bottle from the cooler before sliding in next to her. He started the car turning on the air conditioning and turned his attention to her, “Lacy, sweetie,”
“Hmmm,” she said softly.
“Come on baby,” he said, “I need you to drink some of this,”
“Ded,”
“Come on,” he said lifting her head, “Gatorade, you’re dehydrated,” he said placing the bottle to her lips. She took a sip as he held the bottle for her. She laid her head back, as he looked at her, “Honey if you weren’t feeling good you should have said something,” he said caressing her forehead with his fingers.
“It wasn’t so bad until I walked across the park,” she said.
“I told you, you have to drink fluids when you’re out in the heat,”
“I had my water. I should have found shade closer. I’m sorry,”
“Shh,” he said kissing her softly, “I’m sorry, I should have asked you if it was all right before I just bolted onto the court. I didn’t really think about it. It’s so rare I get to play with someone,” he looked at her. She took another drink, “Easy just sip it,” he said, “I don’t want you to get sicker,”
“It’s all right,” she said, “I’m feeling a bit better now,”“Well, let’s get you home and get you cooled down,” he said.
He placed the bottle in her hands as he slipped on his seatbelt. He backed the car out of the spot and headed back to his apartment. When they got back he helped her inside and took her right upstairs making her lay down on his bed. He went into the bathroom and came back with a wet washcloth. He sat on the bed next to her and pressed it gently against her forehead.
“I didn’t even think about how hot it was getting,” He said looking at her, “I guess I’m sort of use to it, being raised in a warm climate and everything,”
“Hmmm,” she sighed, “That feels nice,”
“Good,” he said moving. He reached down and unlaced her shoes sliding them off her feet. He slipped her socks off as well and started rubbing her feet, “Feeling better?”
“Yeah,” she said.
“I need to shower,” he said releasing her foot and moving from the bed, “I really worked up a sweat,”
“God that sounds nice. I wish I had the strength right now,” she said placing her hand over the washcloth.
“You could always join me,” he said without thinking. He stopped and waited for her to say something. There was a long silence before she spoke.
“You promise you won’t let me fall and crack my head,” she said sitting up.
“What do you think?” he said.
She turned as she saw him strip his muscle shirt off tossing it into the hamper. He reached up pulling his hair loose from the band that held it and ran his hands through it. The muscles in his arms and chest flexed with every movement and she felt that familiar ache as she looked at him.
He sat down on the bench at the end of his bed and slipped his shoes and socks off. He looked up as he saw her walk past him to the bathroom. She stripped her tank top off as she went and dropped it in the hamper as she stepped past it. A smile crossed his lips as he watched her reach in and turn on the shower.
He couldn’t deny that he loved her more with each passing day. He still hadn’t decided what to do about leaving. He didn’t want to leave her behind but he wasn’t sure if she would be willing to move in with him. She liked staying the night with him and she had made herself at home at his place but would she be willing to make it a more permanent arrangement?
The thought flew from his mind as he saw her slip her shorts from her body revealing thong panties. At least she wasn’t totally shy around him anymore, and she was so beautiful. He stood up and walked into the bathroom. He closed the door and moved up behind her.
“Need a hand,” he asked softly caressing her shoulders.
“Sure,” she said.
He reached up and unlatched the back of her bra letting it slid from her body. He ran his hands up her arms and back to her shoulders. He moved and gripped her ponytail gently removing the band that held and letting her blonde hair spill across her shoulders. He kissed her shoulder gently and she smiled to herself as she moved from him.
She removed her panties, and stepped into the shower while he slipped his shorts and boxers off. He stepped into the shower and looked at her as the water cascaded over her silky skin. She stepped back letting the water spill over her head making her hair cling to her shoulders. She looked at him then.
“Come here,” she said softly. He stepped closer to her she ran her hands up his smooth chest before wrapping her arms around his neck and shoulders, “Ded, I’m sorry for the way I’ve been acting this last week. I’ve been a real bitch and I’m surprised you didn’t tell me to take a hike,”
“This runs deeper then a mood swing Lacy. I know that. I love you and it’s going to take a lot more then that for me to ever let you go,” he said smiling softly at her, “I love you so much,”
“Ded,” before she could say anything else her pressed his lips to hers. She sighed lightly at the feel of him and hugged him tighter. Their lips parted and he buried his face in the nape of her neck. He hugged her close as she clung to him and he felt her body shake, “I love you,” she whispered softly, “I love you so much Oded, I’m sorry,”
“Shh,” he said holding her tight, “It’s all right baby,” He hugged her close and she let out a sigh as his hands glided over her back.
“Oded,” she whispered lightly.
“Hmm, what baby,” he murmured against her neck.
“I’m going to miss you,” she said softly.
“I’ll miss you too baby,” he said pulling back to look at her, “But it’s just a few days,”
“Five days,” she said, “I hate the idea of you being gone for five days,”
“Stay here,” he said looking at her.
“What?”
“Stay here while I’m gone,” he said, “Wear my t-shirts, sleep in my bed, whatever you need,”
“I don’t know,” she said.
“What’s the big deal? You stay here at least five nights out of the week anyways,”
“Because you’re here,” she said hugging him close, “I’ll still be sleeping alone while you’re gone,”
“It’s only five day,” he said softly, “And when I get back we’ll do something extra special, I promise,”
“I wish I could go with you,” she said.
“I know baby,” he said, “But it wouldn’t be any fun, I’d hardly see you,”
“Awful lot of trouble for a TV show,” she said turning her back to him and reaching for the soap.
“Well this is my first show, there’s a lot of stuff to go over. I have no real clue about being a federal agent and all this stuff,” he said, “This is a far cry from Ardeth Bay,”
“I know,” she said, as she lathered up her sponge.
“It’s going to require a different way of doing things. Mummy was a few months of principle shooting and then they did everything with computers, finished up voice-overs and such. With this show, it’s almost all principle shooting. We have to shoot a pilot and then a full season if it gets picked up. Actually I’m not even in the first episode,”
“That I don’t understand,” she said turning to him.
“It’s a long dull story,” he said drawing her close.
“Five days,” she said softly running the sponge over his smooth chest.
“Five days and then I’ll be right back here in your arms,” he said leaning in to her, “And I’ll be thinking of you the whole time,”
“Really?” she smiled.
“Oh yeah,” he said leaning down to kiss her. He pulled back to look at her, and a shiver passed through her as he licked his lower lip, “Why don’t we finish washing up, get dried off, you can slip into one of my t-shirts, we’ll start a fire, order some Chinese,”
“Mmm,” she smiled, “And then what?”
“We’ll see where the evening takes us,” he said caressing her cheek, “No pressure baby, you know that,”
“I’m sorry about what happened,”
“It wasn’t your fault,” he said gently, “It happened, we just need to move past it. Maybe it was your minds way of letting you know you’re still not ready for a full on sexual experience. It doesn’t matter, we’ll know when it’s time sweetheart. Let’s just take it slow tonight,”
“Okay,” she said hugging him close.
They took turns washing each other and Lacy was in awe of his restraint. She knew it had to be difficult for him to be so close to her, to touch her so intimately and not be able to have her completely. In her mind what he said had made sense, she still wasn’t ready to make love to him. What she couldn’t understand was why that was. They moved from the shower to the bedroom after they dried off.
He had watched her as she went to his dresser and slipped on one of his t-shirts. What was it about a beautiful girl wearing only a man’s t-shirt, or dress shirt? Was it simply the idea that she was naked underneath, or the idea that a shirt that had touched his skin was now touching hers? Maybe it was just that she looked so damn delicious with her long legs peaking out at him. “All of the above,” he thought as he followed her downstairs.
She curled up on his sofa as he ordered their dinner. She watched him as he leaned on the counter the phone cradled against his ear. He was looking down at the menu ordering for them his wet hair clinging to his shoulders. He was so beautiful, his dark hair, his brown eyes, and his soft bronze skin.
She loved him, she truly did, but why couldn’t she just give in to him? He was tender, caring, so sweet, patient, and most of all he loved her. She turned and looked out his window resting her chin in her hand. She was so deep in thought she hadn’t heard him come over to her. She actually jumped when he touched her shoulder.
“Whoa,” he said as she jerked back, “Easy,”
“I’m sorry,” she said looking at him, “I didn’t hear you,”
“Are you okay?” he asked.
“Yeah,” she said.
“Baby,” he said pushing her hair back behind her ear, “Something’s wrong, talk to me,”
“I don’t know what’s wrong,” she said looking at him, “We’re going on nearly four months and I…” she stopped.
“Lacy honey, I know you’re frustrated,” he said taking her hand.
“And you’re not?” she said.
“Sweetie believe it or not sex is not the end all, be all experience of this relationship. Yes, I want to make love to you, but that’s not the most important thing on my mind. The most important thing is that I never, ever hurt you,” he said gently, “I love you so much Lacy,”
“I love you too,” she said.
“And I know that,” he said, “Baby, are you sure that you’ve told me everything that happened that night?”
“I…I’ve told you everything I remember,” she said.
“Something snapped inside you that night,” he said, “You showed fear. You’ve never shown fear with me before. We’re missing something,”
“I don’t know Oded,” she said, “I wish I did but I’ve told you everything I remember,”
“All right,” he said pulling her close, “Like I said we’ll just move slow tonight,”
“Ded,” she said softly.
“Shh,” he said stroking her back, “It’s going to be all right baby. Hey, why don’t you let me start that fire, food will be here soon, I can open a bottle of “Obsession”,”
“I thought we were out of wine,” she said softly.
“I made sure that I had a bottle of your favorite,” he said as she pulled back and looked at him.
“You’re too sweet,” she said.
“Come on,” he said moving from her. He reached up, grabbed a soft cotton throw off the back of his sofa, and draped it over her, “You get comfortable, I’ll start the fire and chill the wine,”
She watched him as he moved to the fireplace and built a fire. She studied him watching the muscles in his back flex as he moved. A smile crossed her lips watching him.
“When did you get the tattoo?” she asked.
“When I was nineteen,” he said, “Just something I decided to do,” he said with a slight chuckle.
“It’s cute,” she said, “Why do you cover it.”
“Wasn’t my choice,” he said, “They decided Antoine shouldn’t have a tattoo,”
“I like it,” she said.
Once he had the fire going he went to the kitchen and retrieved the bottle of wine from its hiding spot. He stuck it in the freezer and just then the doorbell rang. He walked over and pulled it open as he picked his wallet up from the nearby table. He handed the delivery guy the money, which included a sizable tip and took the bag. He went over to Lacy and sat the bag on the coffee table, before again going to the kitchen. He came back with a long thin box and handed it to her.
“What’s this?” she asked with a smile.
“Little something I picked up for you,” he said as he took the take out boxes from the bag.
“Oded,” she said. She opened it up and smiled at him.
“You like them?” he smiled.
“They’re beautiful,” she said as the pulled out an elegant pair of chopsticks, “Where did you get this idea?”
“The last time we had Chinese you mentioned your dislike of those cheap wooden chopsticks they always give us. I found these for you. They’re ironwood, black lacquer finish, gold inlay at the top,”
“That is so sweet,” she said reaching for him. She placed her hand behind his neck drawing him down for a kiss. He kissed her briefly and smiled softly at her.
“I’m going to go check on the wine,” he went into the kitchen and soon came back with the wine and a glass. She had moved to the floor and he moved next to sit next to her.
They talked quietly between them, as they ate. They fed each other, whispered words of love, and shared tender kisses laced with the sweet wine they shared. She loved moments like that, just the two of them in a world of their very own.
After dinner they moved closer to the fire laying pillows down as they cuddled close. She lay in his arms her backside pressed against him, her head resting against his shoulder. They lay together listening the crackle of the fire. She laughed as his feet grazed against hers tickling her. She moved from him and rolled to face him. She reached up running her fingers over his beard and he gave her a soft smile then melting her inside.
She could see how dark his eyes were as he gazed at her. She noticed early on that when he got aroused his eyes darkened with desire. It made her tremble inside as her eyes met his. It had been almost a week since she had allowed him to touch her intimately and as she looked at him now, she once more felt that all too familiar throbbing between her legs. She tipped her head raising her lips closer in silent invitation. He accepted as he pressed his lips to hers.
She parted her lips easily and he slipped his tongue inside tasting the wine as he kissed her deeply. She slipped her arms around him and lay back drawing him with her. He continued to kiss her exploring her sweet mouth as she moaned softly. He suddenly broke the kiss looking into her eyes as she gasped lightly.
“Lacy,” he started.
“It’s all right,” she said softly.
He dipped his head capturing her lips once more as she pressed against him. He felt her part her legs to him and he moved settling his weight between them. She moaned into his mouth as she felt his arousal pressing against her. He reached up cupping her breast through the t-shirt feeling her nipple grow hard instantly.
His mind reeled knowing the only thing between them was the thin material of his boxers. He could feel her heat and groaned as she moved against him. He tore his mouth from hers and buried his face in the nap of her neck.
“You’re playing with fire baby,” he said softly as she continued her movements.
“Ded,” she said, “It feels good,”
“Is this what you want baby,” he asked softly.
“Can you deal with it?” she asked.
“Yeah,” he groaned as she continued to grind her hips against him, “I need to see you,” he moved and reached down gripping her shirt in his hands.
He moved his hands up stripping it from her body. He started moving against her as he bent over her nipping at her breasts. She moaned loudly as he suckled her and she moved against him more. His control was teetering to feel her moving against him like that.
He wanted so badly to be inside her but as good as the movement felt at that moment he knew that it wasn’t the right time. He felt her hands slid over his back as she moved against him and nearly came unglued as she slipped her hands beneath the waistband of his boxers to grip his ass.
“Shit,” he groaned as she kneaded him, “God baby you’re gonna kill me,”
“Should I stop,”
“Hell no,” he said as he shifted his weight.
She felt him pressing fully against her and moaned his name softly as he continued to grind his hips against her. She could see the intense look in his eyes as she moaned beneath him.
“Ded,” she gasped, “Are you okay?”
“Yeah baby,” he said as he bent down to her and kissed her briefly, “You started this, I’m going to finished it,” he groaned. He then shifted suddenly slipping his hand between her legs to stroke her.
“Ded,” she gasped, “That’s not fair,”
“All’s fair,” he said as he took control of the situation.
He moved back from her letting his finger dip into her as she arched against him. She cried out as he stroked her gently. He soon felt it as her body tightened and she arched against him as her release shook her body. She convulsed uncontrollably as he touched her and soon she lay there quivering from his touch. He moved up to lie next to her and was taken back as she moved to slip her hand into his boxers.
“Lacy,” he moaned lightly.
“You said all’s fair,” she smiled as she pushed him back gently.
She moved down his body pushing his boxers down freeing his erection. She moved down and he let out a moan as he felt her take him into her mouth. His fingers twined into her hair as she moved over him and she could sense it wouldn’t take long. He moaned again as she gripped him in her hand.
“Oh,” he said breathlessly, “Lacy. Oh, oh god,” he moaned as he drew close. She moved letting him find his release before moving to lie next to him. He lay there for several moments his chest heaving, his arm draped over his eyes.
“Dedi,” she said.
“Yeah,”
“Everything all right?”
“Yeah baby,” he said looking at her, “Just wasn’t expecting this is all,”
“Ded,” she said moving to lie across his chest, “You’ve been so patient with me, thank you,”
“I love you,” he said caressing her cheek, “It takes as long as it takes. I knew tonight wasn’t the night. We’ve got another door to unlock yet,”
“Soon Dedi,” she said, “I just need a bit more time,”
“You can have as much time as you need,” he said, “I love you Lacy,”
“I love you too,” she said with a smiled.
“What?” he asked looking at her.
“I was just thinking of something,”
“What?” he asked.
“Instead of my teddy bear you can be my Dedi bear,” she smiled.
“Dedi bear,” he smiled, “Cute,”
“You like that?”
“Just don’t ever call me Odie,” he said.
“Deal,” she smiled, “I love you,”
“I love you too sweetie,” he said hugging her close.
She lay on his chest listening to his heartbeat as the fire slowly started to fade. He pulled a blanket over them and she cuddled against him. He had to leave in the morning and he was going to miss her desperately. Still he had to go, not only for the show but to set his plans in motion. He had a big question for her and he had to put everything in place. He had to be prepared either way. He soon drifted off to sleep wondering about their future together and hhe hoped he could unlock the door that would finally bring them together.
