    Chapter 11-  DRAMA



    “Morning all!” said a joyous Reyjah, the ring glittering on her finger. Midori looked up from her phone conversation. “You seem happy!” she said. “This package came for you.” Midori gave Reyjah a brown box. “There’s no return address,” said Reyjah as she looked for one. “I hope it isn’t a bomb.” “Maybe it’s those scissors that you sent for, from NY,” said Midori.  She noticed the ring on Reyjah’s finger. “You forgave him?” “I love him.” Midori shook her head. “Do yo’ thang, whoadie!” she said. “Where is everyone?” “In the lounge.” “Come on and we can all see what’s in this box.”

    Kate, Sheila, Derrick and the rest of the Sha-Hair-Azad team were in the lounge watching soap operas. “OOOooooh Unh- Uh!” said Derrick. “No that trifling heffa did not sleep with her boyfriend’s daddy and then say the baby is his!” “Bitch!” “She’s a smart bitch, though,” said Reyjah. “Hey, boss lady!” said Sheila, giving her friend a kiss on the cheek. “What’s in the box?” “I have no idea, I think it’s scissors.” “Open it up!” said Derrick, “Christmas at Sha-Hair-Azad!” Reyjah tore the box open. “There’s the hell of a lot of packing peanuts in it!” said Midori as she watched the Styrofoam fly.  Reyjah kept digging. “A videotape?” she asked. “With no title.” “Let’s see what’s on it,” said Kate. Reyjah gave Kate the tape. Kate walked over to the VCR/DVD player and hit the play button. Everybody crowded around to watch, Reyjah was in the front.
    “Hello, Reyjah dear, this is your pal, Darlene. Sorry to hear about you and Antoine, but as you will see in about five minutes, he can do better off without a manipulative bitch like you.” Julia came on the screen and waved. “Hi Reyjah, I love my hair!”  The video skipped to a scene where Julia was riding Antoine, and then Darlene and Julia would switch places. “Oh…my…” said Derrick. Kate hid her face in shame. “He really loves her now, doesn’t he, Kate?” said Derrick. The video got more and more pornographic. Reyjah was too stunned to move. She looked at the ring on her finger. Getting up,  she walked to her station. No one tried to stop her. Once alone, she changed her CD from “Endless Love, to Caught Out There.”

    “I hate you so much right now…AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!” she screamed. She wanted to throw things, kick stuff, break stuff. How could he? She wanted to cry , but she didn’t have the strength. She had forgiven him so easily, too damn easily. And why, because she thought he had made a mistake and was truly sorry. We all make mistakes, right?  She ran to the bathroom and slammed the door shut. “Hello, my friend,” she said to the porcelain bowl.

    Kate was in sheer and utter shock. “Damn….damn….damn,” she said. She was the only person that had taken Antoine’s defense. This time, he had lost her respect. Midori was silent. Derrick was fussing. “Asshole…sonofabitch…if I didn’t want to screw him, I’d kick his ass, my damn self!” Sheila called Arianna. Arianna was in the middle of training a client. “You are freaking kidding me…a damn videotape?” “I’m gonna find those bitches and cancel their asses!” Her client gave her a funny look. “Sorry, crisis,” said Arianna in embarrassment. “Reyjah locked herself in the bathroom?” “Oh goodness…”

    Reyjah  looked at herself in the mirror. “What the hell is wrong with me?” she asked. She looked at her face, true, her eyebrows needed arching, but she was still beautiful. She lifted up her shirt, true, she had lost a little weight, but she still had good abs and good muscle tone. “This isn’t about you, this is about him, he has the problem, not you,” she reassured herself. “Rey-Jah!!” said Sheila and Derrick.  “Are you okay!! Open the door!!!” Reyjah unlocked the door, and slowly peeked out at her friends.  “Are you okay, babe?” said Derrick. “Come out, please?” said Sheila.  Reyjah finally came out. Her blue eyes were red and swollen, and her lips were pouty. “I’m going home,” she said flatly. Her co-workers did not try to stop her. “That’s a badass girl,” said Midori once Reyjah was gone.
