Driving Oded
By Dedi’s Lady Hawk
Chapter 9 - Mixed Blessings
Lacy and Oded had finally decided to move out of her apartment and into a house. They had spent a good month looking and finally found the perfect house, simple elegant, two bedrooms, and a master suite. They were still unpacking but they were finally getting settled. He was busy at work with the new show and the first few episodes seemed to be well received. Everything was going along smoothly.
One morning Lacy made her way out to the mailbox and opened it up pulling out the bundle of letters. She heard a whistle and looked up to see her husband jogging up the street towards her. She smiled and waved before turning her attention to the mail. One envelope caught her eyes, and she tore it open as Ded approached her.
He broke into a hard run as he saw her sway, and managed to catch her before she slumped onto the grass. He cradled her in his arms as she went limp in his embrace.
“Lacy,” he said cupping her face, “Lacy, sweetheart,” he reached out a grabbed the letter from her hand before the wind caught it. He looked at it and then he saw it.
“This letter is in regard to the settlement of the estate of the late, Mr. Oscar Rhodes,” he said, “Oh Lacy,” he said softly.
He gathered her and the mail into his arms and took her into the house. He laid her on the couch before getting a towel and going back to her. He placed the cool towel on her forehead and she let out a soft moan.
“Lacy,” he said softly caressing her cheek, “Sweetheart,” her eyes fluttered open and she focused on him.
“Ded?”
“You fainted,” he said gently.
“Oh,” she said trying to sit up.
“Easy,” he said, “Have you been feeling dizzy again?”
“Yeah,” she said, “This one just came up quick,”
“Well no wonder,” he said as he held the letter, “I’m sorry about your father,” she looked at the letter in his hand and sighed.
“I guess it was quite a shock,” she said taking the letter from him, “After all it’s been years since we’ve spoken. He didn’t even know about you until my cousins told him. That must be how his lawyers tracked me down,” She sat up as he moved to sit next to him.
“Are you all right?” he said slipping an arm around her shoulder.
“I think so,” she said, “I just wasn’t expecting this. When I left home, I said awful, hateful things to my father. I never expected to be contacted in any fashion even when he died. I told him that I’d never forgive him. They probably just want me to show up so they can tell me he left me nothing,”
“There’s only one way to find out,” he said hugging her close.

Lacy had to try hard to keep her legs from shaking as she sat in the lawyer’s office. She gripped her husband’s hand as he tried to keep her calm. The lawyer sat across from them looking over things as sat there her face looking nearly pale. Oded reached over and ran his hand over her back as a deep sigh escaped his wife’s body.
“Mrs. Fehr,” said the lawyer finally, “I know that this news must come as a great shock to you, and you have my deepest sympathy on the passing of your father,”
“Thank you,” she said softly.
“It was your father’s wish that you view this video,” said the man as he pressed the button. Oded felt her stiffen in the chair next to him as her father appeared on the screen.
“Hello Lacy,” he said, “I know that it’s been many years since we’ve spoken, and that this must come as a shock to you. If you’re watching this, then it means I remained ever stubborn to the very end, or that I never got to tell you before I died, how sorry I am for how I treated you,” there was a pause, “I know that it wasn’t your fault, and I never should have said the things I did. After loosing your mother, I’m afraid I didn’t know how to deal with you, and I certainly didn’t know how to deal with what happened to you. I am so sorry I hurt you darling, I never meant to, and I’m afraid that until now I never had the courage to apologize to you. I hope that someday you can forgive a stubborn old man,” he said, “I know about Oded, and I must say that from what I’ve been told he seems like a fine, young man who loves you very much,” he said, “I regret not being able to be there on your wedding day, to give you away. I know that you will be well cared for and loved,” he said, “I know that nothing I say or do can make up for what I did, but I hope that you will expect this final gesture from me. Now that you are wed, I’m sure you’ll be starting a family. Upon the birth of your first child, you shall inherit the bulk of my estate, the sum of 10 million dollars. I know that this in no way makes up for the pain I caused you, but please expect it. I am sorry for hurting you, for the years that we lost. I love you Lacy, I always have, and I hope someday you’ll forgive me,” her father was crying by the time he stopped speaking and Oded watched as his wife stood and walked over to the TV. She had tear on her cheeks, her bottom lip trembling as she reached out and touched the screen.
“Daddy,” she said with a sob.
Oded moved from his chair quickly and took her in his arms as she sobbed against him. After years of pain, and heartache, he had finally reached out to her once more, and Lacy now grieved not only his death but also the time together that they had lost. He held her close as he felt his own eyes fill with tears, threatening to spill forth. He soon escorted her from the office and back to the house.
He took her inside and up to their bedroom where she sat for a long time in silence. Oded sat quietly nearby unsure what to say to her. He finally moved to the bed sitting next to her. He touched her shoulder gently and she turned to him seeking his embrace. He hugged her close feeling her body tremble.
“Lacy, sweetheart,” he said softly, “Is there anything I can do?”
“Just hold me,” she said softly.
“I love you Lacy,”
“I love you to Dedi,” she said hugging him tight. She let out a sigh and pulled back from him, “I’m hungry,”
“Well I’ll get us something to eat,” he said moving from her, “You stay here,”
“No I can help,” she said starting to stand. She wobbled again and he grabbed her sitting her down.
“Darling, you’ve been getting dizzy an awful lot lately,” he said brushing her hair back from her face, “This is more the just nerves,”
“I know,” she said, “I thought it was just stress, but I’ve been feeling kind of funny lately,”
“Funny how?”
“Well getting dizzy, feeling tired, I’ve been nauseas all day today,” she said.
“Lacy,” he said taking her hand in his, “When was your last period?”
“Just before the wedding,” she said. Her eyes suddenly widened as she sat there, “Oded, I’m late,”
“Listen,” he said looking at her, “You stay here and rest, I’m going to go pick up some dinner, and I’ll get you a pregnancy test, all right?”
“Okay,” she said as she moved to lie down on the bed. He leaned over her and kissed her lips.
“I’ll be right back,” he said, “I love you,”
“I love you too,” she said.
He covered her with a blanket
before he left the room. His heart was pounding in his chest as he went down
stairs and picked up his keys. After the miscarriage in
As Lacy lay in bed she placed her hands on her stomach. She shiver passed through her as she thought about it. She wanted to have his baby more then anything, but the miscarriage had made her scared. She didn’t want to go through that pain again, and she certainly didn’t want him to. He tried to hide it but she knew that the news had devastated him. “Please God if I am pregnant,” she said softly, “Please let this baby be all right,”
He soon returned with their dinner and the test. Lacy took the test and disappeared into the bathroom as he set the food out on table near the bed. He was sitting patiently on the edge of the bed, trying to keep his legs from shaking. He wanted the test to be positive, but he didn’t want to seem disappointed if it wasn’t. He didn’t want to hurt her feelings in anyway.
The bathroom door soon opened and Lacy stepped out clutching the stick in her hand. He stood to his feet rubbing his hands over his thighs as he looked at her. She had tears in her eyes as she stood there.
“Lacy?” he said. She smiled softly and nodded at him, “It’s positive?”
“Yes,” she said. He rushed over to her taking her in his arms and hugging her tight.
“Oh Lacy,” he said hugging her tight and lifting her off the floor. He set her back down and looked at her, “Are you all right, I mean…”
“Yes Ded,” she said smiling at him, “I want this. Here,” she said showing him the test.
“A baby,” he said softly, “Come here,” he said drawing her close once more. He caressed her cheek and smiled as he looked in her eyes, “I love you,”
“I love you too,” she said softly. He kissed her lips and looked at her.
“Now you should definitely eat,” he said, “Since you’re eating for two now,”
They sat down and ate their dinner. Lacy noticed how he couldn’t take his eyes off her, and she blushed as he stared at her. She knew he was happy, and she was too. Everything was back on track for them.
~*~
By December the show was struggling but Oded had been repeatedly told that the show was going to continue. As the show progressed so did Lacy’s pregnancy. She was starting to show and she was also showing more obvious symptoms. It was late one night when he woke to find the bed empty. He saw the light in the bathroom, and moved from the bed. As he pushed the door open he saw Lacy on the floor leaning over the toilet.
“Oh baby,” he said moving over to her. He knelt next to her and pushed her hair back from her face, “Is it bad?”
“It’s starting to pass,” she said with a sigh.
“You should have woken me,” he said caressing her back.
“I didn’t want us both to be miserable,” she said.
“I’m not miserable,” he said, “And you’re pregnant. If you need me I want to be here,”
“Oh god,” she said as she suddenly leaned forward. He grabbed her hair sweeping it back as she coughed up. The sickness passed as he handed her a towel, “Thank you,” she said covering her mouth.
“I’m staying right here,” he said rubbing her back again.
“I think that’s it,” she said with a sigh, “For now anyway,”
“Let’s get you back to bed,” he said slipping his arms around her. He helped her to her feet and she made her way to the sink to brush her teeth. He then helped her to the bed and got her settled. He laid there holding her and she then tilted her head up inviting him to kiss her. He gently pressed his lips to hers and her hand slipped up to the back of his neck bringing him closer.
He moaned softly as he felt her tongue caress his lips and he parted them to her. She slipped her tongue into his mouth and his whole body came to life with need as she pressed against him. It had been nearly two weeks since he had been able to touch her much less make love to her. He moved and gently pressed her to the bed she moaned softly. He broke the kiss to look at her.
“Lacy,” he said softly.
“Make love to me,” she whispered.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes,”
He kissed her again and she eagerly parted her lips to him. He probed her mouth gently as she pressed her body to his. He slid his hands under her back and moved them up as she moaned softly. His mouth left hers and he gently nipped at the skin on her neck as he hugged her close.
He reached up, took the straps of her gown in his hands, and drew them down revealing her breasts to him. He let his lips trail gently over the skin of her breasts as she sighed softly. He drew her nipple into his mouth, she breathed in sharply, and he stopped looking up at her.
“Honey,” he said.
“Sorry,” she said, “I’m a little sensitive,” she said caressing his cheek.
“I’m sorry baby,” he said.
“It’s okay,” she said, “Just be gentle,”
“All right,” he dipped his head and once again suckled her this time hearing her moan softly.
“Yes,” she whispered, “Like that,”
He tenderly kissed and teased her breasts before moving down her body. He kissed across her stomach and then lifted his eyes to look at her. Her stomach was no longer flat but slightly rounded by the baby growing within her. She ran her fingers through his hair as he kissed her stomach.
“I love you too,” he whispered against her skin.
She smiled as he moved from her drawing her gown down and exposing her body. He moved back up her parting her legs, and feeling her tremble. She gasped as he gently spread her open and tasted of her essence. She moaned softly as he teased her. Her could sense she was close and he moved up stripping off his boxers and settling against her. He kissed her lips as he pushed inside her and she moaned into his mouth. He held still inside of her and broke the kiss looking into her eyes.
“Lacy,”
“It’s all right,” she said, “I’m fine,”
He held his weight on his elbows as he began moving inside her. She moaned at the feel of him as he created that sweet friction within her. She ran her hands over his back and down to his buttocks as he thrusted into her. She cried out as she felt her body tighten, and she suddenly shattered as he gave her a few last thrusts. He dropped his head on her shoulder and he felt her fingers in his short hair.
“Dedi,” she said softly.
“Hmm,” he said against her skin.
“I love you,”
“I love you too,” he said as he moved to look at her. He shifted his weight off of her and hugged her close.
“I know I haven’t been to accommodating lately,” she said.
“Lacy, you’re pregnant, there are going to be times when you’re uncomfortable, I understand that,” he said.
“I hate turning you away,” she said.
“I know honey, but I understand,” he said.
“It’s only going to get worse, you know,” she said running her fingers through his hair, “I’m only going to get bigger,”
“Well you’re only going to get more beautiful to me,” he said kissing her lips.
“You’re excited about this aren’t you?” she smiled.
“Yeah,” he said looking at her, “This is something I’ve dreamed of for a long time, having a loving wife, and a baby to dote on,” he caressed her stomach, “When can we tell everyone?”
“Soon,” she said as he moved to lie next to her, “I just wanted to wait until we were through the first trimester. Just to be safe,”
“I can’t wait to tell my mom,” he said as he rested his hand on her stomach, “She’s going to be so excited, another grandchild,”
“Hmm,” she said softly, “I wish my father could have been here to share this,”
“I’m sure he knows honey,” he said kissing her cheek.
“Oh,” she said suddenly causing him to jerk his hand away.
“What’s wrong?”
“I think I felt the baby move,” she said.
“Really?” he smiled.
“Yeah, it was like this little flutter,” she smiled. He watched her as she lay there. She smiled again, “It is, it’s the baby,”
“Wow,” he said placing his hand back on her stomach, “It’ll be a while longer before I can feel it huh?”
“Yeah, at least another month or so,” she said, “You know we need to start thinking about names,”
“I know,”
“I
was thinking maybe we could use
“That’s a beautiful name,” he said, “What if it’s a boy?”
“Boy’s names are hard,” she said, “You chose something,”
“Hmm,” he smiled, “Let me think on that,”
“All right,” she said cuddling against him, “I love you Ded,”
“I love you too sweetheart,” he said kissing her temple, “Now sleep,”
He soon felt her relax in his arms as she drifted off to sleep. He held her close watching her. Her sweet face was soft and relaxed as he held her. She had always been beautiful in his eyes, but now there was such a glow around her. She was pregnant, carrying their child within, the ultimate expression of their love for one another. It made his heart swell to see her this way, and he prayed every night that both she and their child would be safe.

Lacy and Oded finally decided to tell their friends and family that Lacy was expecting. Everyone was so happy for them, especially Oded’s parents. Though Lacy’s morning sickness was fading other symptoms were rearing their ugly heads. Oded quickly learned that he did not want to get between Lacy and a bathroom, when she had to go she had to go. By Christmas she was starting to get leg cramps at night, and he had to help her get uncomfortably positioned in their bed.
To make matters worse, his new show had been pulled from the schedule until mid January and this wasn’t sitting well with Lacy. She had all ready been down that road once with him, and she didn’t want to see it happen again. He showed her a memo from the network; stating that the show would start airing again in January, with a new add campaign and that they were going to pick them up for a second season.
Even though it was there in black and white, Lacy was leery of it. She just had a bad feeling that her husband was about to be burned again, and that she would be left picking up the pieces. She had noticed the change in him from when he wasn’t working to when he was. He was happiest when he was working and working steady, she didn’t want him to get hurt again.
One day she decided to go and visit him on the set. She was allowed in and stood in the back watching him as he interacted with Dana Delaney. That was still the one aspect of the show that bothered her was her husband portraying man with such loose morals, pursuing a married woman. He was such a devoted husband in real life and it was definitely not within his character. In addition, she just didn’t care for his co-star and thought that the scenes between them were forced. Soon they called for a break and Lacy heard a man call out.
“Hey, Oded, the little woman’s here,” He turned around to see her standing there. He gave her a smile as he walked over to her.
“Hey,” he said as he drew her close, “What are you doing here?”
“Thought I’d surprise you,” she said, “Can you get away for an hour?”
“I can if it’s important, what’s up?”
“I have a doctor’s appointment and thought maybe you could come,”
“Sure,” he said, “Then I’ll take you home. Just let me change,”
He gave her a kiss and left to change his clothes. As Lacy waited for him several of his co-stars came over to see her, and congratulate her. He soon came back and escorted her out. They went to her appointment. He held her hand as he got to hear the baby’s heart beat for the first time. She smiled as he beamed down at her his eyes dancing at what he was hearing. She was right on schedule and according to their best calculations they had concluded that she actually conceived on their wedding night.
He helped her off the table and out to the car. He noticed she was quite as they drove. He took her home and she made a beeline for the bedroom. She started to take off her sandals when he knelt down and took her ankle in his hand. He slipped one off then the other before getting her settled into the bed. He caressed her cheek as she lay there and her eyes fluttered shut.
“Tired,” he asked softly.
“Hmm,” she sighed, “Yeah, it’s hard to sleep when you have to pee every twenty minutes,”
“Want me to stay with you?”
“Mmm, you have to get back to work,”
“Tell you what,” he said leaning over her, “I’ll bring dinner home,”
“Thank you,” she said softly. He pulled the blankets over her and kissed her forehead.
“Rest now sweetie,” he said as he touched her hair, “I love you,”
“I love you too,” she whispered.
He rose from the bed and quietly left the room. As soon as he was done shooting for the day, he changed his clothes and went to pick up dinner. The house was dark and quite when he got home. He made his way upstairs to fine her still sound asleep in their bed. He set the food down and looked at her.
Although he tried to conceal it he worried about her. The doctor said she was fine, but she was always tired, and sore. The one thing he hated more then anything was leaving her alone while he was at work. He would never forgive himself if something happened while he was gone. He wanted her with him as much as possible and the night of the “People’s Choice Awards” was no different.
His show was up for Best New Drama and he wanted her by his side for good or bad, but that night Lacy was just too sick to go. She felt awful since he had bought her a dress just for the occasion and said he wouldn’t go without her. Lacy however, being as she was insisted that he go for the good of the show. She knew the ratings were suffering, and that a lot was riding on that night.
Lacy laid in bed with Tina sitting nearby and she couldn’t help but cry a little when the show lost. She couldn’t shake the feeling that the show was going to meet the same tragic end as the one before it. She was lying in bed when she heard him come in. He was trying to be quite not realizing she was awake at first. He turned as she flipped on the light next to the bed.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you,” he said as he stripped his tie from his neck.
“You didn’t,” she said, “I’ve been waiting for you,”
“Feeling better?”
“A bit,” she said.
“So I take it you saw,” he said as he set down his tie and slipped off his jacket.
“Yeah,” she said sitting up, “I saw,”
“Déjà vu,” he said as started to unbutton his shirt.
“The show has problems hon, none of which are your fault,” she said.
“Well I feel like I just single handedly fucked my career,” he said as he slipped his shirt off.
“Ded,”
“I swear, if this show tanks I’m ready to chuck it all, and move back to Israel,” he sat on the edge of the bed and dropped his head in his hands. She moved over to him hugging him from behind and kissing his shoulder.
“You don’t mean that,” she said softly, “I know you, you’ll only be truly happy acting,”
“I just don’t understand what I’m doing wrong,”
“You are not doing anything wrong,” she said moving to sit next to him, “It’s called taking your lumps Ded, all actors have to do this,”
“Yeah,” he sighed.
“There are going to be many more opportunities Ded, you just have to hang in there,”
“It’s just a let down,” he said.
“You’re putting too much pressure on yourself,” she said hugging him, “You’re going to be fine, didn’t you say that Rob called you about a sequel,”
“Yeah,” he said, “I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go down that road again,”
“It would be a shot in the arm,” she said touching his shoulder, “I’ve been checking the net Ded, your fans are still there, you just have to fight your way back,”
“I suppose a sequel wouldn’t hurt,” he said, running his fingers through his hair, “I cut my hair though,”
“There are ways around that,” she said smiled.
“In the meantime I have to keep promoting the show,” he said, as he slipped his watch off.
“So promote the show,” she said, “We may be putting the cart before the horse here,”
“Yeah, well I feel like I’m clinging to the rail of the Titanic right now,”
“Anything I can do?” she said kissing his shoulder again. He looked at her and cupped her face.
“You’re doing it,” he said smiling softly.
“Come to bed,”
He finished undressing and slipped into bed next to her. He cuddled back against him placing his hands on her stomach as they lay together. Then he felt it, a hard thud against his hand.
“Whoa,” he said moving his hand.
“You felt it,” she smiled.
“Yeah, strong kid,” he said.
“Just like his daddy,” she said looking at him.
“His,”
“Don’t want to say, “IT”,” she said.
“I don’t care if we have a boy or girl, as long as you and our baby, are healthy, that’s all I care about,” he said.
“I love you,” she said softly.
“I love you too baby,” he said kissing her lips.
~*~
The show was re-launched but after only four additional episodes it was yanked from the line-up and replaced by a news show. Oded was angry to say the least, after being made promises and made to dance around promoting the show he felt as if he had egg on his face.
Lacy of course was there by his side to comfort him, and the one thing that made him smile was seeing his wife carrying their child. He turned his attention to other things including the arrival of their first child. Together they turned the guest room into a nursery ready and waiting for the arrival of the first-born.
He decided to keep a low profile while he looked at scripts and contemplated his next move. He was sure that he didn’t want to commit to anything until after Lacy gave birth. He wasn’t about to miss that for the world.
~*~
Lacy woke up at seven in the morning staring at the clock. She knew what was going to happen. She knew the minute she moved she’d have to pee, which meant getting up, which meant disturbing him when she came back to bed. She rolled onto her back and gasped as she felt the gush of wetness break forth. She reached over shaking his arm.
“Honey wake up,” she said.
“Hmm,” he said rolling, “What’s wrong?” he groaned.
“I think my water just broke,” she said.
“What?” he said sitting up.
“I think my water broke,” she said again shifting in the bed.
“All right,” he said moving from the bed. He went to the dresser and found some clothes to pull on before helping her out of bed.
He got her dressed grabbed her bag and took her downstairs to the car. He held her hand as they drove and when they arrived she was taken inside and shown to her room. He helped her get settled and soon the doctor came in and checked on her. Although her water had broke she was not having hard contractions and after walking the halls with her he took her back to her room. Lacy was crestfallen when the doctor told her they were going to have to give her something to help her long. He took her hand in his as the doctor left.
“Lacy,” he said gently.
“I wanted to do this without drugs, Ded, of any kind,” she said.
“I know sweetheart, but it’s been four hours since your water broke, and they don’t want to risk and infection,”
“I know,” she sighed.
“They just want to do what’s best for you and the baby,” he said kissing her lips, “It’s going to be all right,”
He held her hand as they put the IV in and it seemed like only moments before the contractions started. He hated seeing her in pain as they tried to adjust the IV. The contractions went from being nearly continuous to nearly stopping until they finally got the IV adjusted. He continued to hold her hand, trying her best to comfort her as the contractions came. Finally when she was dilated to four cm, they offered her something for the pain.
“No,” she said.
“Lacy,” he said, “Honey you can take something,”
“No, it’s bad enough I had to be induced,” she said.
“May we have some privacy?” asked Oded of the nurse.
“Of course Mr. Fehr,” as the nurse left he moved to sit on the edge of the bed.
“Lacy, just hear me out,” he said, “I know we talked about keeping this natural but we’ve all ready crossed that bridge. You’re body is being forced to do something it wasn’t ready to do, so it hurts, and probably more then if you were having natural labor. I hate seeing you in pain, please honey, let them give you something,”
“Dedi,” she said softly.
“Please, darling,” he said caressing her cheek.
“All right,” she said, “I’ll take the shot,”
They gave her the pain medicine and it took the edge of for a while. The second shot however didn’t and Oded understood when she asked for an epidural. Once she was pain free she dilated quickly, and it wasn’t long before she was starting to push. It was nearly ten that night before Lacy started to do serious pushing and he held her leg as she started to push.
He felt helpless as he watched her straining to bring forth their child. She cried out and Oded knew something was wrong. He watched as the doctor cut his wife, to allow the baby to come out. She nearly screamed as she pushed hard and his eyes widened as he saw the baby come out. She fell back gasping as a sharp cry pierced the air.
“Congratulations,” said the doctor, “It’s a boy,”
“Oh,” she gasped, “A boy,”
“Yes, sweetie,” he said kissing her forehead.
“Ded,” she said, “Is he all right?”
“He’s fine honey,” he smiled, “They’re just cleaning him up,”
“Oh,” she said as she laid back.
“All right Lacy, we’re almost done here. We just need to stitch you up and get you cleaned up,”
“Okay,” she sighed.
“Lacy,” he said leaning over her, “You all right?”
“Yes,” she said, “Just tired,”
“I am so proud of you,” he said caressing her cheek, “You did wonderfully,”
“I love you,” she said softly.
“I love you too,” he said kissing her lips.
“All right mommy,” said the nurse, “There’s someone here who wants to meet you,” Lacy smiled as the nurse laid her son in her arms, “Oh, he’s beautiful. We need a name,”
“Gabar,” said Oded looking at her.
“Gabar?” she asked.
“It means “Strong” in Hebrew,” he said, “We can call him Gabe for short,”
“Gabar,” she said, “It’s beautiful Oded,”
He watched as his wife cradled their son, and soon they were left along in the room. He went to the phone and called his mother to deliver the news. She sat up in the bed gazing down at the baby in her arms. He had his father’s dark hair and eyes although she saw herself in his face as well. She felt tired, drained of energy as she held her son in her arms. Oded hung up the phone and walked over to his wife.
“Mom’s so excited,” he smiled, “She wants to come visit right away but I told her you need to get settled and such first,” he looked at her noticing her face was pale, “Lacy?” he said stepping closer, “Lacy honey,” he reached out caressing her cheek and noting there was no response, “Oh god, honey?” He reached up and hit the call button as he reached for their son. The nurse came running in.
“What’s wrong?”
“I don’t know,” he said, moving back, “She won’t respond to me,”
“Mrs. Fehr,” said the nurse as she laid the bed down, “Lacy?”
“What’s wrong with her?”
“Mr. Fehr, please stay back,”
“What’s wrong with my wife?” he asked.
“Mr. Fehr just let us do our jobs here,”
“Lacy,” he said softly.
He stood back holding their son in his arms as they worked with Lacy. They tried to get him to leave but he was frozen to the spot waiting for word on his wife’s condition. Finally the doctor came over and talked to Oded.
“Mr. Fehr,”
“Is she all right?” he asked.
“Yes, we think it was a reaction to epidural. Her blood pressure dropped too low, and she’s anemic. She’s going to have to stay a few days, until we can get her iron levels and blood pressure back up,” said the doctor, “We’re going to move her to a private room in a few minutes,”
“Thank you,” he said.
Soon Lacy was moved and Oded sat near by. He laid their son down and held her hand as he stroked her hair. She let out a soft sigh, and turned to his gentle caress.
“Ded,” she whispered.
“I’m right here sweetheart,”
“What happened?”
“Shh,” he said gently, “It’s all right, you just need to rest,”
“Gabar,” she said.
“He’s fine, he’s sleeping. You lost too much blood baby, but you’re going to be fine, you just need to rest now,”
“I love you,”
“I love you too honey,” he said kissing her softly.
Lacy spent three days in the hospital recovering. They wanted to give her a blood transfusion but she refused. Oded helped her as much as he could by bathing their son and helping her with feedings. She was very releaved when she was finally able to go home with their son. Oded continued to help her as she slowly regained her strength, and was able to do more on her own. She soon settled into a comfortable routine.

It was rather late when Oded made his way upstairs, their bedroom was empty and he saw the light coming from the nursery. He walked over and pushed the door open a bit. He smiled as he saw her sitting there nursing their son. She soon finished and burped him before laying him down. She turned and smiled as she saw her husband standing there. She walked over to him and they stepped out as she quietly shut the door.
“Hey,” she said.
“He went down quietly,” he said to her.
“Yeah, he should sleep for a few hours,” she said slipping her arms around his waist, “Which means we can have some time alone,”
“And what did you have in mind?” he said giving her a sly smile.
“Well it’s been six weeks,” she said as she pushed herself up to kiss his lips. A soft growl escaped his body as she kissed him softly.
“Let’s not waist anytime,” he said as he moved and lifted her into his arms.
He carried her into the bedroom and laid her across their bed. She drew him close kissing his lips as he settled his weight against her. He parted her lips and she moaned softly as he probed her mouth, and she pressed her body to his. His mouth soon left hers and trailed kissed across her neck as she moaned softly.
“Ded,” she whispered, “Mmm, I love you,”
“I love you too,” he murmured against her skin.
He let his hand drift down to the waist of her robe and he tugged the belt loose before pushing it open. He was extremely careful as he kissed her skin knowing that she was sensitive from nursing. She ran her fingers through his hair as he moved over her body, and she felt a throbbing within her as he moved down her body.
Her soft moans and sighs filled his ears as he moved down her body. He caressed her tenderly, each touch causing the flames of desire to grow hotter within her. He parted her folds tasting her sweet essence. She moaned as he dipped a finger inside her. He felt her tense and then relax as he slowly probed her stroking her inner wall. His control was slipping and he ached to be inside her.
He moved up pushing his boxers down as he settled between her legs. He felt her tense as he moved to push inside her. He stopped looking at her as she gazed up at him.
“Lacy,”
“It’s all right, don’t stop,” she gasped.
He pushed into her hearing her breath catch. It burned as he filled her but she stifled the groan that threatened to escape her. He gave her a moment and felt her relax. He withdrew from her and pushed back against her as she moaned a bit louder. His heart was pounding in his ears as he began to slowly thrust his hard length into her.
She ran her hands over his back as he moved inside her and he felt her nails score his flesh as he raced her to that final release. She cried out as her body tightened on him causing him shatter with her. He felt her fingers brush through his hair as he rested between her warm breasts. He hugged her close hearing her heart beating as they held each other.
“Hey Dedi,” she whispered.
“What sweetheart,” he said looking at her.
“I love you,”
“I love you too,” he said moved to look at her.
“What?” she smiled.
“Sort of like a fairy tale isn’t it?” he said softly.
“Yes,” she smiled, “And we lived happily ever after,”
“Forever,” he whispered.
“Forever,” she replied.
