| Scene 24: Time crept by slowly for him. He felt a little lost watching the clock tick, waiting for 5:00 to come. He grabbed the script for next week and plopped onto the couch to work on scenes and lines. He went into the kitchen to get something to drink and looking out the window caught her drinking wine while she cooked. He knocked on the window to get her attention, but she didn't see him and turned back towards the stove. He smiled as he watched her busy in the kitchen, constantly tucking those flyaway hairs behind her ears. He laughed as he realized she must have been listening to the radio as she started singing along and dancing in the kitchen. She stopped to taste the sauce with her finger, and munch on zucchini slices. It made him hungry. He pulled out some goldfish crackers and grabbing a beer went back to the living room, thinking it still wasn't really fair to watch her when she didn't know it. His mind wasn't on the pages he was reading. He looked at the clock, 4:00. Time to shower he thought. He took a long shower, scrubbing everywhere, washing his hair twice. He saw her shades drop in her bathroom as he stood looking in the mirror, trimming his beard. 4:20, he chuckled, only she could get herself completely cleaned up and changed in so brief a time, he wondered what she would wear tonight. It had been horribly hard to be near her Thursday night when all she wore was that T-shirt and shorts, he remembered the feel of her breasts, no bra between them as she had pressed her chest against his on the couch. " 'ded, you better start thinking about something else, or you'll never get past dinner with her," he said outloud looking at himself in the mirror. Like her, he stood in front of the closet, not knowing what to wear. She had been adorable this morning in her overalls, so casual and fresh, but he knew she would probably be more dressed for dinner. He dropped his head to his chest, thinking about having to watch the Mummy movies with her tonight, shaking his head back and forth. The best clothes for lounging in front of the TV were sweatpants and a T-shirt, but he couldn't show up in that. He pulled out his most comfortable blue jeans and pulled them on, then chose a dark gray button down shirt, which he tucked in and grabbed his belt. He put his sandals back on and checked himself in his mirror. Still comfortable but appropriate and he hoped sexy. He made his own ears turn red at the idea that he was actually trying to look sexy. He dropped the bracelet she had liked into his pocket, thinking about when he would give it to her. It was a little before 5:00, and he was pacing in his living room like a caged lion. He finally decided it was silly to wait, and headed over to her place a few minutes early, taking a deep breath, knowing tonight could be a huge step for the two of them. He realized he felt a little nervous, he hadn't been nervous like this for as long as he could remember. "Don't blow this 'dedman... " he muttered through a deep sigh. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Neighbors - Chapter 25 |
