    To Catch Another Thief

A UC: Undercover Story By LMVT

    Part 2

    Nogales, Arizona

Marisca started her descent on to a very rough and very secret airstrip that was outside the border town in Arizona. Her Lear jet brought her there in good time, as it was not even noon when she looked at her controls. She had left Donovan after taking the homing device he had planted on her and made a speedy rip to the airport. Miguel Cortez was a foolish twenty year old and she knew he had a big mouth along with his over sexed nature. Carlos, his father was not even forty and apparently not that impressed with his son so a conversation between them about Nogales might lead to a dead end she thought. Then again sometimes the most obvious was in fact reality. Marisca could not afford to take that chance so she headed for the small town, as did Sonny Walker and Frank Donovan who were close behind.

Cody lost track of Marisca almost immediately after she left the Meeting House Inn and he conveyed that to Frank when they spoke. Frank was livid about this current dupe as he dressed and then headed out for the private plane from the Justice Department that Bloom had sent. His people were already waiting and doing surveillance around the area to find not only Cortez but, Walker and Vanius. Alex picked him up at the local airport and half way in to the small town Donovan reached for the device in the seem of his leather jacket that Marisca had placed and ripped it out throwing it from the window of the car. He had wanted her to know at least that he had arrived in Arizona and was in route. Marisca however, had thought he was a fool as she watched her small monitor that showed exactly where he was until the signal went dead about fifty miles from Nogales.

Sonny was a different case as his man had heard Lesley and her husband in the throngs of passion the night before which he reported to his boss who had been in Arizona since early morning. Everything was too quiet he also reported and now Sonny became suspicious for some reason. The timing was just too close for a visit from an old lover he had not seen in years and a drug connected husband that appeared too good to be true. But now Sonny had his mind on finding the young Cortez and the shipment of uncut cocaine and if he pulled off this coup his bank robbing days would be over and he would concentrate on larger projects.

“So when did you plan on telling me you know Cortez’s son Alex?” asked Frank in anger as she drove. “You jeopardized the rest of the team down in Miami! What if he saw you?”

“He didn’t see me Donovan! And if he did I doubt he’d remember!” Alex exclaimed. “I only met him once.”

“He’ll remember the agent that played his Father for a fool and got him thirty years! When we get to Nogales I want you behind the scenes. I can’t take a chance this time”, ordered Frank who had other things on his mind about Alex.

“What the f…. else is bothering you Donovan?” asked Alex. “I know you’re not that crazy about me. You haven’t liked me since the first day we met!”

“Whether I like you or not doesn’t matter! I don’t like the fact you get hung up with everyone you seem to work close with. Cortez. Your former boss! Is this what I’m going to expect?” questioned Frank as she looked over at him with her doe eyes. “And don’t give me that look. You’re not my type Lady!”

“No. Marisca Vanius is!” Alex retorted. “I get involved? What are you doing?”

“Shut up and drive!” ordered Donovan and she did a bit scared of him as she had been his first day on the job. He was intimidating and he knew it.

They arrived at the broken down motel off one of the side roads that went in to the area and found the rooms Cody had set up with his equipment. He was using infer-red detectors to sweep the area in a fifty- mile radius around Nogales for anything suspicious while Jake was out in a jeep doing a visual. Monica was combing over files and reports that she had received via fax from different agencies on several of the men that were often linked with Carlos Cortez, trying to determine who would be involved in this current operation. She had another smaller stack of some very well read files on Sonny Walker and his men Monica had compiled since they started to go after him a year and a half ago. Then ofcourse there was a file on Marisca Vanius off to the side.

“I’ve booked you in to the only decent hotel in town Donovan” stated Monica. “I hope you know Spanish because you’re going to need it.”

“Don’t worry about me. I want Jake with me on this. Is there anyone in the Cortez group he can assume identities with?” inquired Frank and Monica passed him a file which he opened and started reading. “Ok. This will have to do. Brief him when he gets back. Now what else have you come up with?”

“This Miguel doesn’t have the brains to head this operation. I believe it’s going to be these two”, stated Monica as she turned to the monitor in front of her bringing up two photos. “They’re brothers from Columbia and they’ve been connected with the Cortez family in South American for the past ten years. This one is Paco and he’s Salvador. Their last name is Ramon.”

“Do you know if they’ve entered the country?” asked her Boss very aware that she no doubt did, as Monica was one of the best he had ever worked with.
“Yeah, they did. Paco came in through LA last month and his brother through Memphis three weeks ago” she replied. “The CIA gave us some of the alias they use and bingo! Not too clever on their part.”

“Unfortunately that’s what we have to work with. Their mistakes are what bring them down” he remarked. “We just have to be smart enough to catch those mistakes.”

Alex’s cellular went off and she answered it and spoke briefly to Jake sounding irritated because of her confrontation with this new Boss of hers.

“Let me talk to him”, stated Frank as he grabbed the cellular from her hand. “Speak to me!”

“Donovan. Yeah! Good! I’m twenty miles east of town at an abandoned airstrip. I found a Lear and I just broke in to look around” stated Jake.

“Get the serial number from the cock pit Jake” he ordered and then listened to his agent’s commentary on how nice the plane was. “Cody I want you to run it through and find the owner.”

“Ok! Its 69900700900-AB0” replied Jake going slowly as Donovan repeated it to Cody. “So what now Boss?”

“Look around the Lear and then head back. Be here by four”, ordered a very intense Donovan. “Anything?” he now brought his attention to Cody.

“It’s owned by a British Corporation called Abacus” Cody stated.

“I’m running it for a match Frank” interjected Monica. “Maybe we’ll be lucky. Nothing. It’s not matching up with anyone. But my calculated guess is that it’s Vanius’s.”

“That’s my hunch too” he responded. “Just out of curiosity run other names similar to Abacus. See is there are any other Corporations and who the CEO’s are. Then if you find any run it through the CIA database if you can.”

“What am I suppose to do Donovan?” asked Alex as she sat in a chair slouched and looking disgruntled.

“Not a damn thing right now!” he ordered but she got up and left the motel room going to her own.

Sonny and his three men got themselves situated in a small house they took over killing the elderly woman that owned it. One of his men smothered her with a pillow and then dumped the frail body in to cellar to get it out of the way. Walker was a vicious man and so were those he hired, even though he always thought of himself as the Father of this small family of his. It was so ironic Marisca had observed that he actually felt paternal to those he employed even to the point he set up benefits for them. The only problem was if they left, they left dead or without any of the money they helped steal. Two of his men went out immediately to comb the area and try to locate Cortez and the Ramon brothers Sonny’s contact in Columbia had tipped him off to the week before. His other man scanned the police bans for anything unusual and Walker himself set up some equipment similar to Cody’s that would scan the area via satellite. Sonny was an old time thief but now he was a very high tech one and it was making it much easier for him.

“Get the others back. I want to have a look around myself”, ordered Sonny as it was almost four and nothing was happening to his satisfaction.

Time was of the essence for Donovan, Walker and Vanius as they raced to win the prize. For Donovan it was getting the drug dealers and both Sonny and Marisca. And for Walker it was just the drugs and for Marisca it was getting more complicated. She had hired a local to pick her up at the airstrip and then headed south.

“Pull over for a minute” she said to the older man and he did readily as she had given him quite a bit of money upfront.

“What is it?” he asked and then he watched as if in a dream as she took a gun from her handbag and pointed it to his head and shot.

Marisca reached over to open the dead man’s door then kicked the body out, wiped the window of his blood and dropped her handkerchief on the corpse. She got behind the wheel and started again down the road without even thinking twice about what she had just done. The man had just been a casualty, despite and innocent one, and there had been so many of them at her hands it did not bother her. It never did.

“Donovan! There’s something interesting coming over the police scanner” stated Cody. “They’ve found a body shot once in the head by the side of the road near the border.”

“What’s so interesting about that?” laughed Frank as Jake now walked in precisely at four.

“They also found a handkerchief with some initials on top of the body. You’ll never guess what they are”, remarked Cody and Donovan shrugged his shoulders. “MV.”

“Shit!” he shouted jumping up from his chair. “Monica! Brief Jake now! We’re leaving in five minutes!”

“I thought you said she wasn’t the murdering kind Donovan?” chuckled Alex who had just walked in and heard what was going on. “God! She’s even letting you know she did it!”

Frank got hold of Alex by the scruff of her neck and lifted her easily up against the wall.

“Anymore remarks like that you’re off MY team!” shouted Donovan and then went in to the bathroom slamming the door.

He had to keep it together and not let his team see him like this. This Vanius woman had gotten to him and now he realized she was a cold- blooded killer just like Sonny Walker. His personal feelings had gotten in the way of what should have been apparent to him. An innocent man died today because he had been sloppy going after Marisca before and if she was CIA he was still going to find a way to bring her to justice. Or maybe he would just kill her, Walker and Cortez and solve the problem simply. He hit the wall of the bathroom with his fist so hard it went through then he got himself under control and went back in to the room where everyone was waiting.

“Ok Jake. Let’s go!” he stated and he started out of the room as Monica jumped up following him.

“Hey Donovan! Where are you two going?” she asked as he and Jake got in the Jeep.

“The town across the border” Frank replied as they drove off.

“We should call Bloom”, stated Alex as she overheard.

“You’re a f…in fool Alex” Monica exclaimed as she passed the bitch that had been causing so much trouble.

Jake turned to Donovan. “You know ofcourse we have no jurisdiction in Mexico?”

Frank took out his gun and held it up. “This is my jurisdiction Jake.”

“Ok then” replied Jake getting a bit nervous about his Boss’s intent even though he was very capable of killing.

Marisca drove ten miles south of the Mexican town and waited in the desert for a meeting she had arranged through the bartender at the local dive. Money always talked as she gave him enough to live on for a year in his pathetic lifestyle. Finally the man she sought arrived alone which told her he was either a fool or he trusted her.

“So Lesley. What is this all about?” asked Salvador Ramon who knew the American woman very well from her smuggling days and to her marriage to a Cortez. “How did you know I would be here?”

“There’s more to me than you think Ramon. I have a proposition for you” Marisca stated. “I know you’re greedier than your brother and I also know you don’t want to part with that drug shipment your handling.”

“How do I know you’re not a Fed?” he laughed. “And this isn’t a set up?”

“You don’t. But what you also don’t know is that I want that shipment and I’ll include you if you give me some information” Marisca remarked.

“What do you have in mind?” he questioned leaning against his car.

“I want to get my hands on the drugs after you sell them. You help me make the necessary contacts and after your buyers take possession we get the shipment ourselves and then sell them again to my buyers. I’ll give forty percent”, she explained. “All you need to do is go along with me and let me in on the Cortez plans.”

This was a very appealing idea to Salvador. Not only would he get his share of the profits on the first sale but almost half on the second. But she was right he was greedy.

“I’ll do this for fifty percent” he responded.

“Yes. Fifty percent” the woman replied. “Let’s have a friendly dinner in town tonight with your brother and Miguel. I assume he’s in town too? But don’t tell them I’m here. Let’s make it a surprise.”

“Meet us at Carleto’s at eight” replied the Columbian as he got in his car. “You’d better be straight with me”, he said before he drove off.

“Or what?” Marisca laughed replying knowing he would not hear her and then got in her car driving in the same direction as her new stooge.

Not only Donovan and Jake started across the border but Walker and his men, fortunately the good guys had over an hour lead, as they finally got in to the small town. It was a typical border town much more impoverished than Nogales reminding Frank why there was such an influx of illegal aliens. They circled the area in a slow meticulous fashion trying to find some clue where the woman and no doubt Cortez and the others were. Donovan’s cellular went off and he took it from the jacket of the leather ensemble he still wore and activated it. Cody was on the secure line telling him the police were looking for a 1965 Jeep that was owned by the man found dead on the road and the license was from Arizona number WSF234. They drove in to the center of town and spotted it parked in front another a rather nice hotel then parked themselves and got out.

“She’s baiting me”, exclaimed Donovan as they approached the four-story building.

“That’s obvious. But she’s hopefully showing us the way” replied Jake as they went up to the so-called reception desk. “We’re looking for a pretty blond woman.”

The young Mexican smiled and held out his hand and Frank took out money enough to satisfy him and passed it over.

“202” the desk clerk said as he put the money in his jacket.

“Stay here” ordered Donovan as he left heading up the stairs to find the room, which he did.

His gun was already in his hand and now as he approached the door he took his left hand to steady it then kicked open the door. Marisca was seated in a chair across the room facing him with a gun pointed at him. They stood looking at each other and there was instant heat between them and Frank became aroused. Why did this woman have such an affect on him he asked himself? There she sat in a pretty tan leather skirt, jacket and boots crossing her long legs as she pointed her weapon directly at his head.

“What took you so long Donovan?” she laughed then put the gun down and got up.

“What’s this about Marisca?” he asked coming closer to her now. Close enough that he put the gun to her forehead and at no point did she flinch he reflected. God! She was unshakable Frank said to himself. “I want to know who you are Vanius! And now! I’m sick of your F…in games!”

“Oh. I think you enjoy the games. Who am I? That lover you’ll never find out. So shoot me”, she said point blank as he pressed the gun harder in to her forehead.

They stood with their eyes locked for what seemed eternity to Frank. He wanted to punish her and he kept on telling himself to just shoot, but he could not so he took the gun away from her head and put it in his jacket.

“I didn’t think you could Donovan” she smirked and he grabbed her hard pressing her in to his body assaulting her with his lips and tongue. He released her and she walked away from him to get her handbag. “It gets down to that. You and me, and this” she stated as she came up for another kiss.

“So here we are. What now?” Donovan questioned having realized some tension with his kiss.

“You and I are going to play Mr. and Mrs. Cortez once again. We’re going to meet the bad guys for dinner and we’re going to find out about this drug shipment. Then I suppose Sonny will show up soon. I promised you I’d help. It’s up to you what you want to do now”, she stated.

“Bad guys? Shouldn’t you include yourself in that club?” he remarked as he took her arm and gripped it.

“No Frank. I’m not the bad guy” she replied giving him just the briefest clue in to her identity.

“I don’t give a shit! If you can get me Walker and to those drugs dealers” he exclaimed as he shoved her through the door in to the hallway.

“I love it when you’re rough” she laughed and then got free from his grip and headed down the stairs with Donovan close behind.

They reached Jake who was standing in the center of the room then the three left getting in the Jeep that was parked outside. Marisca turned around to Frank who was in the makeshift back seat.

“So who’s he suppose to be?” she asked with that smirk again on her face he found somewhat appealing.

“My bodyguard Jose Tamillio from Colombia” Donovan replied not having to introduce them as they both were very aware of one another.

“Kind of short isn’t he?” she smirked again and laughed.

“You’re a real piece of work lady!” remarked Jake as he drove. “Where are we going anyway?”

“Take a right up here. We’re going to Carleto’s for some fine dining” she said sarcastically.

Jake found the place and parked a half a block away as the road was packed with cars and trucks. It was just turning eight as they walked in and Marisca spotted Salvador to the back facing her. She smiled and then took Donovan’s hand squeezing it.

“If you’ve done your homework like I think you have, you know who that is” she was testing him.

“Salvador Ramon” he replied as they began their approach.

“Lesley” stated Salvador and then the two other men turned to see her and stood up. “What a surprise! And this must be Jesus.”

“Hi Darlin. What are ya’ll doing here? Miguel” she nodded to the young man. “I haven’t seen you in years. I don’t think you ever met your cousin Jesus”

“No. I have never had the pleasure. This is Paco Ramon and his brother Salvador. Why don’t you join us for dinner?” Miguel asked as he pulled out a chair for Lesley. “What brings you to this shit hole town?”

“We’re heading down south to pick up a shipment of pre-Columbian artifacts. This trip might be dangerous so Jesus came along for the ride” Marisca stated and at that Frank grabbed the back of her neck giving her a hard kiss. “And that too! He can’t keep his hands off me!”

“It had better be just my hands pet” Frank cooed in his Spanish accent. “Some tequila over here!”

He shouted to the waiter across the room who, came running over with a bottle and glasses. Donovan poured shots for everyone, which were drunk fast and then poured again. They had several rounds and then ordered, talked and ate.

“So how are you going to get your goods over the boarder?” asked Salvador to Lesley his new partner.

“I honestly don’t know. Jesus thinks we should travel further east and cross the border” she replied. “This shipment is pretty big. We were going to try to find someone local to help smuggle them in.”

“Did you try contacting the Guiterrez family?” asked Miguel now. He was very loose from the booze and feeling cooperative now as Lesley was making eye contact with him. She was twice his age but it did not matter as he heard she was a good lay.

“We tried and this is too big for them” responded Frank.

“I might help for a percentage of your take”, replied Miguel now. “How much are your goods worth?”

“About three million” stated Donovan. “Pretty good for that junk. We’ll give you thirty percent if you can help us.”

“I’ll do it for fifty” exclaimed Miguel getting very cocky now and loud.

“No forget it cousin. Let’s go pet” Frank replied and grabbed Marisca’s arm to leave.

“Wait cousin!” Miguel laughed. “Sit down! All right, I’ll do it for thirty. Another bottle of Tequila over here!”

Sonny had gone down to the small town with his men after combing Nogales. They found Cortez readily enough and two of Sonny’s men followed him to Carleto’s. Frank. Marisca and Jake were aware of the two men that sat at another table across from them. The Ramon brothers and Cortez did not connect them with Sonny. Walker listened in on the conversation fully realizing that Lesley and her husband were after the drug shipment themselves for some reason. Why would she be after drugs he asked himself? Lesley was just an antique dealer but she was not an innocent and he knew that. She married Jesus a known drug dealer and it was obvious he was setting some deal with his cousin. They were talking a good game with the pre-Columbia shipment but Sonny knew that their presence there was just too much a coincidence. But he was still not quite convinced they knew he was on their tail.

“So you go get your shipment cousin and drive it east. One of my men will meet you five miles outside a town called Chinico just below the border of Texas. Be there in two days and don’t be late”, Miguel stated getting up now with the Ramon brother’s behind him.

Donovan nodded and they watched as the three left, then Marisca bent over and kissed him.

“I told you Jesus. He’d help us”, she said and he kissed her, as they needed to play their parts as Sonny’s men were still lurking off at the side. “Let’s go back to the hotel.”

“Si. The hotel” he replied getting up as she did and holding each other as they exited with Jake following who had been standing near the table.

They got outside and started for the Jeep and Frank started to break from her but Marisca pulled him in. She leaned up to his ear and whispered.

“What ever happens keep your cover.”

Donovan did as he turned her in the middle of the street and brought her against him for another erotic kiss. Jake turned his head slightly and saw Sonny’s men get in their car as they watched. The three got in the Jeep and Jake took off for the hotel with Walker’s men behind.

“We’ll leave in the morning. We’re suppose to met my contact twenty miles south and pick up the shipment”, stated Marisca as Lesley as she closed the door to her room.

She knew by this time it was bugged by Sonny but she wanted him to hear everything. Miguel’s group would not have had the time for any surveillance.

Donovan took his jacket off and threw it on a nearby chair then went in to the bathroom to relieve himself. He had given Jake a signal to get word to his team to get to Texas and start their surveillance. Now he was going to enjoy his evening with Vanius in bed until they had to leave the next morning. Right now he was anxious to get out of the leather clothes he had worn for a time so he went out to the bedroom and took his boots off. Marisca was sitting on the bed working on her laptop for a few minutes and then put it away.

“Take you clothes off pet” Donovan said continuing his Spanish accent.

“You’re oversexed Jesus but I’m in the mood tonight so you’re lucky” she laughed taking her boots off first and then she unzipped her jacket.

Frank took his shirt and pants off quickly then walked to Marisca now seeing she wore no bra under the leather. She unzipped her skirt and he helped her bring the tight skin over her hips exposing the lavender thong she wore. Donovan turned her around to see her buttocks and how the slice of material went between them enhancing its roundness. He had told himself he would not have sex with her again but when she looked like this he was out of control. She was pushing all of his buttons and now she took his large hands as she turned towards him, placing them on her backside as she did hers on him.

“You’re so strong”, she stated gripping on to the muscles of his buttock. Then she looked in to the depth of his eyes, which had softened and for a moment she did too. “How did you become so strong?”

Frank caressed her as he looked down in to her blue eyes that were bewitching him. He did not answer her question but her validated her statement by picking her up easily and taking her to the bed. They made love to each other that night. It was not just sex anymore for the two and both realized it when they woke n the morning to Jake knocking at the door. Frank and Marisca got quietly dressed, gathered their things and left town heading south. Jake could feel the tension and glanced over at his Boss, who was now sitting next to him, turn around to look at Marisca still saying nothing. Donovan had given Alex the speech about getting involved and now he had to give that speech to himself or he would endanger the operation. By nine they were almost at the location Marisca’s contact was to be, and at fifteen after they saw a small truck and a Gringo waiting.

“Stop here. I need to speak to him alone” she said still undercover.

Frank nodded and she got on to the dirt road and walked fast towards the man who smiled. She hugged him and as she did passed a note to him. Jake saw this as he looked through the pair of binoculars he was carrying in the Jeep. He gave them to Frank for a look then signed with his hands to tell him what he had seen her do. Marisca now waived for them to approach and Jake did slowly, still not trusting her that it might be an ambush. Frank and Jake got out of the Jeep and the stranger got in it and drove off leaving them with the truck and a substantial amount of pre-Columbian art in its back. Marisca checked one crate showing both men the legal goods on top and the false bottoms. Under were very rare artifacts that had to them appeared overnight but had obviously been gathered over a period of time. Jake nodded to Frank indicating he had gotten a photo of the man and then got behind the wheel. They had to go seven hundred miles straight east on old dirt roads and over some parts that had none.

Sonny did things differently as he and his men drove back across the border and up to Tucson’s airport to hire a helicopter getting them to Texas long before anyone else. He had made up his mind to not only get the drugs but also the buyer’s money. Sonny needed to follow Lesley’s cargo that he knew was going to be smuggled in with the cocaine. A small truck could do the job easily as it did not take much bulk in the drug to be worth a billion on the street, if it was prime quality. Sonny also thought perhaps Miguel volunteered his services so readily because he could use Lesley’s shipment himself as a cover. If the truck got caught it would be unlikely the Fed’s would look further if her artifacts were clearly visible. His cocaine would go unnoticed at least for the time he needed. That was what Sonny thought was going to happen and his hunches were usually on the mark. His man set the helicopter down over a hill near where they estimated Lesley and her husband would pull up and Sonny joined his men watching the area with night vision scopes. The three had been too quiet for his liking the night before and now as he had Lesley bugged when she passed his men in the restaurant. Whatever conversations they did have were in character and mostly about directions and stops to pee.

“Here they come”, said his right hand man who was a six foot six and looked like Mike Tyson.

It was three in the morning when Jake stopped and they waited silently. Marisca put her head on Donovan’s shoulder and fell asleep looking like an angel he thought. Last night and now were the only times she had put her guard down with him. Dawn came at fifteen after six and Jake got out to pee again and when he looked up and over by the hill he saw a light flash. He knew they were being watched as he saw the rising sun hit and reflect off a scope or binoculars. Jake got in the truck and motioned over to the hill indicating to Frank that they were not alone. At seven a car came in to view heading towards the truck.

“This is it Boss” said Sonny’s man and Sonny came back with his binoculars and started to look.

They watched as Salvador Ramon pulled up himself in a beat up old car and got out. Jake opened the back of the small truck and he took a look at the crates and Lesley showed him how the artifacts were stored. Then he examined the truck very carefully then enlisted Donovan and Jake to help him unload the drugs. The trunk of the car held sixty packages the size of bricks and they were wrapped in a material neither of the agents was familiar with.

“What kind of cover is this?” asked Jake in his best accent.

“Dog proof covering” laughed Salvador. “We’re going to put them under the truck.”

“Isn’t that too obvious friend?” asked Donovan watching the man take two bricks and screwdriver out.

“I’m not your friend! And it’s none of your business what I’m doing!” Salvador shouted as he got to the truck.

They brought over more of the bricks and Jake got on his back with Salvador passing them to him as he put them under the car. Donovan went back and forth with the cocaine and after an hour the Columbia got the last one in and then secured the metal cover screwing it back on.

“You’ll drive with me in the truck Lesley. You two follow behind” he ordered.

“Ok. Are we just going up over the border from here?” she asked taking her jacket off. She was wearing a blouse today fortunately Donovan thought. “God! It’s hot. Darlin’ can you take my jacket for me? Put it in the trunk if it’s in your way.”

“Sure pet” Donovan said knowing she wanted to get rid of the bug she had shown him before, but making it look not so obvious. “Are we going straight north?”

“Yeah. Cortez and my brother will meet us after we cross” the man said.

“We’ve lost the transmission Sonny. But they’re heading due north and over the border to meet Cortez and the other Columbian” his man said.

“And the buyer I hope. We’ll have to wait a while before we take off. I don’t want to take the chance of them hearing us”, Sonny ordered.

“They sure are hot together”, laughed his man now as he watched Donovan come up to Marisca and grab her for a kiss. “I thought you said she wasn’t hung up on this guy?”

“I’m not sure about her anymore. She might just be getting greedy along with this Jesus” Sonny laughed himself. “Maybe I’ll offer whoever survives a job.”

Donovan broke from their kiss. “Be careful pet” he said as Jesus.

“Remember what I told you outside the restaurant Darlin” she replied reminded him no matter what to keep his cover. “I’ll see you soon.”

She got in the truck with Salvador and Frank went back to the car where Jake was waiting behind the wheel. He turned to Jake and shook his head placing his finger on his mouth for him to be silent.

“We need to continue as we have no matter what”, Donovan stated as Jesus and Jake nodded understanding his boss wanted him to remain undercover.

The truck and car left going off the road now and straight north. A half an hour later Sonny and his crew took off following at a distance. Donovan’s team stationed themselves north of the Texas border and were following the signal from the homing device Jake had on him. Alex had called headquarters asking for back up and Bloom arrived ever the ambitious bastard, with a team from the DEA. Everyone was ready for a fight to get the drugs, the dealers, the buyers, Walker and Vanius. That is everyone but Donovan who was not sure who he wanted to get anymore. The truck and car crossed the border in the middle of nowhere then continued north for another ten miles finally getting on to a dirt road. They drove another half an hour until they got to an empty warehouse district where they pulled in to a garage. After an hour passed and by that time the buyers arrived, they had been surrounded by very well armed Fed’s ready for the deal to go down.

Frank and Jake got out of the car, as did Marisca and Salvador. They walked towards Miguel and Paco. The black limousine with their buyer pulled up closer and the back door opened with a large Chinese bodyguard appearing first and then another Chinese man. Jake got a photo of the man dressed immaculately in a black suit and tie who obviously was a member of the Chinese Triad.  Neither Donovan nor Jake recognized him. Whether he was part of the Triad from China or their organization in the States was something they would find out soon. Two other large men got out carrying four titanium cases everyone knew contained the money. They walked half way and stopped then the cases were opened showing the fifty million for the billion plus street valued cocaine. A good price all parties thought.

“All right everyone!” shouted Sonny as he and his men appeared out of nowhere. He had his laser targeted on the head of the Chinese buyer and the man became immobilized.

He said something in Chinese and his men dropped their guns. Then Alex and Monica entered with guns in hand along with Bloom and the DEA. Sonny shot the buyer dead at once and the rest of the Chinese men started shooting as they got back in to the bullet proof limo taking off. The DEA got in quickly behind Sonny killing two of his men and surrounding Walker and the other. Donovan and Jake started to shoot at their team but off to the side, telling them they wanted to remain undercover. Then the two men allowed Alex and Monica to detain them. Marisca had gone behind the truck with Cortez and the Ramon’s and with her gun she shot Miguel and Paco. Salvador smiled at her and then she shrugged her shoulders and shot him in the head. Then she came from behind the truck with her gun up in the air to surrender.

Sonny and his man were read their rights by Bloom and Alex while Donovan,  Marisca and Jake were cuffed by Monica and the DEA.

“We’ll take the woman”, said the leader of the DEA unit.

“Where are you taking my wife?” shouted Donovan as Jesus, wondering why they were taking Marisca.

He watched as she was taken out of the warehouse in front of them and then put in an SUV that drove off with the truck behind. That was the last he saw of her. As for Donovan and Jake they were put in jail with Sonny and he made it known before they were separated that when they got out he wanted to work a deal out. Marisca’s advice had been wise and now Donovan had the possibility of a permanent connection with Walker and Cortez. When he and Jake got out, he had Cody and Monica look in to where Marisca was and she was nowhere to be found.

“Well, congratulations are in order Donovan!” shouted Bloom from his bathroom in his office in Washington DC.

“Thanks Bloom!” shouted Frank back as his boss came out now and sat behind his desk.

“You got Sonny and hopefully the charges will stick and young Cortez and his men are dead.”

“Where’s Marisca, Bloom?” he now asked angry and Bloom took the morning paper out and threw it at him.

“It looks like she got away with the drugs with the help of some dirty DEA agents”, Bloom stated as Donovan read.

“They found the truck and the DEA guys at the bottom of a cliff. It says the impact caused it to explode. Everything was destroyed” Donovan reiterated from the article.

“That’s all the information we’re going to get Donovan. The DEA is tight as a drum on anything else. No autopsies! Nothing! And no Vanius!” Bloom shouted.

“I don’t get it Bloom”, stated Donovan.

“Well, why don’t you give your lady love a call? She was seen walking in to Trump Towers this morning” said Bloom sarcastically.

“Yeah, I’ll do that Bloom” he said surprised, and then got up and left.

Marisca had shot the dirty cops she had made a deal with to get the drugs and disposed of them and the truck. Then she called the Agency and reported her job was done. She had gotten all the players involved except for  Shuy Chou, the Chinese buyer the CIA was aware of whose brother headed the Triad in America. Sonny was nice enough to do that for her and Frank and his sidekick now had an in with him when they needed it. The Agency was going to get Sonny out of prison she had a feeling, as he was just too valuable to them on the outside. He was small potatoes to them and her but he had contacts. She got in her Lear jet in San Antonio where another agent had flown it to and then she went back to New York to relax. He cellular went off and she activated it.

“Donovan! What took you so long!” she laughed. “Why don’t you fly up to New York for a couple days or does Bloom have you on another assignment?”

“What the hell went on Vanius?” he shouted angry but ironically happy he was talking to her.

“Let’s just say I don’t like dirty cops or dealers. And I’m not in to drugs” she replied. “So what about some good sex?”

Donovan laughed. “I’ll see you in three hours Vanius! I’m not quite sure who won this one. But I’ll be your boy toy for a while. See you soon.”

    THE END
(But there is always another crime)
