Too Many
By Kira Viona

Too many memories
Too many tears
Too many deaths
So many years

A whisper, a secret
Of undead things waking
You turn away; I wonder
Whose heart are you breaking?

Too many regrets
Too many friends sundered
Too many burials
As a horse’s hooves thunder

Creature, your battle
Cannot change my choice
My mind has been set
Ever since I heard his voice

The creature will wither; his face a blank mask
And as I turn to see you
I whisper a few words into the inky air:
Ardeth, hear me well and true!

‘My battle is fought; only one thing undecided
Tell me, my leader: what is the future?
I love you as yet and I cannot disguise
The fact is that I will never find a cure’

A secret, a whisper
Of living things training
I turn away; you wonder
Whose heart am I breaking?

It’s either yours or mine, Ardeth!
